Terrill Reid McLain comes from Colorado, USA and has a Master of Business Administration in International Business from Regis University and a second Masters of Educational Technology at Boise State University with a specialization in technology integration. He has a diverse professional background before settling on academia and instruction at HUFS.
The demanding and fast-paced world of global business requires graduates who have a robust set of tools that range from technical skills to management competencies. This translates to a need for diverse and flexible graduates - who can communicate in any situation.
Professor McLain sees his role in the GBT department as that of communication coach to help students to transition their English use and focus from a test-taking discipline to a comprehensive communication discipline using English as a Lingua Franca. These classes are not ESL classes but communication competency classes that help students think about and practice the ‘why’ of using English. The classes are communication workshops designed to challenge students to break through personal barriers and fears, increase their confidence, and develop strong communication competencies.
Passionate about the goals and dreams of the students, class objectives are structured to help students attain transferable skills they can take with them into the professional world.
Current Classes Include: Written Business Communication (비즈니스영작), Public Speaking and Presentation (영어프레젠테이션), and Interpersonal Business Communication (비즈니스영어커뮤니케이션)
Past Classes Include International Marketing (국제마케팅), Principles of Business Management (경영학원론), Area Studies 2 (지역연구2), Marketing Research (마케팅조사론), Understanding of the International Economy (국제경제의이해), Business Issues in the Global Age (국제화시대의경영), and Business English (비즈니스영어).
